Bahrain, which is officially known as the Kingdom of Bahrain, is an island state located in the Persian Gulf. Bahrain stretches by 55 km in length and is 18 km wide.  As an archipelago of thirty-three islands, Bahrain does not share a land boundary with another country but is connected to Saudi Arabia by the King Fahd Causeway.
